"This new advertising medium is a unique way for us to gain very targeted brand exposure," says Joe Venezia, Director of Marketing for NIVEA FOR MEN. "Purchasing virtual advertisements is a very cost effective way to reach male consumers."

NIVEA FOR MEN products appear at different stages throughout the game and have been seamlessly integrated into the video game environments. In addition to product placements and billboards, NIVEA FOR MEN and Norelco wanted to get more deeply involved with the game play experience. When double agent Sam Fisher travels through the streets of New York City, a billboard advertisement leads players to a co-branded Web site that provides game tips

lol worthy:

Oh man, prison is a rough place. The boys in the slammer must've *loved* Sam's newfound interest in men's beauty products. In fact, they were probably the ones to nudge him in the right direction.

Mr. Fisher must've had one of those truly eye-popping 'Shawshank Redemption' experiences in the joint; one requiring heavy dozes of NIVEA's nutritious and silky soothing lotion.

let us thank our overlord masters for bringing advertising into our beloved hobby: **** you EA ...whoops wrong company, sorry force of habit ..**** you Ubisoft

Meh, I can deal with an advert in Splinter Cell since most of the missions take place in a city

this seems to be a new trend were going to have to start dealing with a lot more.....ugh.

sure they will make the ads display just when you run a game and you cant skip it and if you skip it the game will turn off or close
and then we will see interviews of some stupid asshole saying how intelligent and smart they are by making that stuff

Splinter Cell has always been notoriously bad with the advertising. The games are generally good so I play it anyway, but if it were a lesser game then I'd not have bothered. It still pisses me off to no end.

Does anyone else make a conscious effort not to buy products after the advertising has pissed them off? I know Ubi is more to blame than NIVEA but still ... just knowing this makes me more likely to pick up another brand.

What is NIVEA anyway? Shaving cream?

skin care products ...yes I purposefully avoid products if the advertising is annoying

maybe that explain why sam allways hav the head shaved

and no ads are worse that the fragancies ads

I didn't even notice any adverts :| They must've hid them or something.

Ads ingame aren't that bad. It's the idea that the devs can put stuff from third-parties ingame and get paid for it that disturbs me. Who knows, maybe in next games, your instructor will explain why the H&K MP5 reigns supreme over other submachineguns.

"Let me show you this beauty: The H&K MP5. Able to fire semi-automatic, 3-round burst or full auto. Very little recoil, easy to operate. Has a safety switch and included belt. And best of all: Only 799$ with 3 JHP mags at Wall-Mart."

/me takes SMG
/me shoots instructor in the face

I thought there were laws being passed about spyware. Invasion of privacy, etc. I hope they get some laws passed and slam EA.

......I coulda picked a helluva lot better thread to put this in. *points to BF2142 topics

I have seen Call of Duty 2 ads on screensavers in Chaos Theory. Yeah, it was out of place, but I just laughed and moved on. Personally I don't care at all about ads in game. If they want to put them in, fine, just as long as the ads remain passive. I just ignore them.

Wait.. what, they had ads in SCDA? I never noticed it..
