Wow! Just beat Fallout 3. You want to talk about unfulfilling endings, this is it.

I wasn't even expecting it to happen when it did. It kind of hit me like a brick wall. As soon as the slide show kicked in I couldn't believe it. I thought maybe I reached the halfway point or maybe I have one big last battle to do, but once the credits started rolling I was severely disappointed.

I mean I just got a bunch of new stuff and skills (including that guys rapid fire pistol) and less than 5 minutes the game is done.

I feel as if I still had so much in the story to accomplish. Don't I get to fight the president? Portal style? I barely got to explore the map. I never found the dog or the white house. I didn't even get to explore the entire North-East corner of the map. I kind of figured I would beat the main quest or find a dull point during the main quest and then set out to beat random quests, but you can't keep playing after you beat the game. You have to start from the beginning again.

An epic game with an anti climatic ending.

Agreed 100% Ending was 100% shit.

If you want to play past the ending of the game then you will either have to download the mod (assuming you played on PC) or buy the newest DLC. But I too agree, bad ending for a RPG game.

Just go right up to the point you get the mutant friend and go on your own adventures, that's what I did.

Just load your last save film, which should be as you enter the room to comfront that Autumn as it auto-saves through doors. Kill him, then leave the main quest alone for as long as you want. I don't 100% know if you can walk out on that quest that far in, though, but surely you must have other save files before that...

I saved my game right before the last mission just in case, like I always do in a game.

Thanks guys. I probably have a save file for when I met fawkes outside the Enclave base. So i'll explore the map from there. But the truth is after seeing the end of the game my will to keep playing the game has been cut in half. Is the DLC fun? How long does all the DLC last combined? Are they even available for PC?

I never got around to playing Oblivion that much. Would you guys say Oblivion was more epic and bigger compared to Fallout 3? With out giving it away was the ending better?

I just hated the leveling system in the game and the respawning enemies leveling up as well.

Oblivion took a giant shit on Fallout 3 as far as scope and replayability goes, doesn't necessarily make it a better game though.
I had more fun with FO3, however, if they had made the world a bit bigger and rewarded explorers better and allowed you to continue playing after you beat the main quest it'd be excellent and totally worthy of all the praise it received from critics.

FO3 was great to explore, so-so to actually play. I did enjoy wandering the wastes though, always something nifty over the next hill (even if it was a major disappointment talking to the people living in those nifty places)

the DLC for Fallout 3 is pretty fun so far. I think I'm about halfway through it on the 360 and so far so good. Yeah the original ending sucked but at least I made a game save every hour or so

What RPG?

To be fair, you might as well download the mod; The official DLC was underwhelming despite the features included.

If you do want a DLC I actually thought The Pitt was more useful (you can convert unwanted ammunition to useful ammo)

What really annoys me about the ending is that fact that you're actually allowed to ask Fawkes to do it, in which case no one would have to die, and he refuses.

But the truth is after seeing the end of the game my will to keep playing the game has been cut in half.

My feeling exactly when I finished it. Same with Oblivion. Crap endings both, and way too soon, that leave no desire to carry on playing. But after a long break I did return to both for a while just to explore all the places I hadn't been to and finish all the side quests. This too became pointless after a while with nothing to aim for.

Out of the two games though I enjoyed Oblivion more, as there are way more mods and things to do, plus Oblivion seems much bigger. Whether it is or not geographically I don't know.

Meh. The DLCs are a scam, you're paying 30$ for barely ten hours of gameplay.

I believe the official standpoint of Bethesda is "If we don't give the fans what they want, they should pay for it."

But I guess it's better than the more common "If we don't give the fans what they want, **** 'em."

There are DLCs I'd gladly pay full price for.

It's just, uh, they didn't come out yet.

I just beat it too, and I must say, the entire game was freaking awesome besides the shite ending. I facepalmed when the narrator repeated the "War never changes" line. It's like Bethesda were trying to put some meaning into the game's story, as if it's taught you a valuable lesson. The opening movie is epic and engaging, while the outro is corny and unfulfilling.
