Spore delayed!

It seems like the game has looked done from all the videos for a long time now

For some reason I am not the least bit surprised.. Dissappointed? Yes. But surprised? Nope..
I wouldn't be surprised if EA are holding back as many of their big titles as possible for Crysis to get full attention tbh..

WTF The good PC games are always delayed.

The first thing that came to mind when reading the thread title was 'not suprised.'


If the game didn't live up to expectations, they have to live in fear and sneak out to their cars after work. lol
 
I hope this delay isn't because they want to dumb down the gameplay.
 
Damn, I expected it to get delayed, but was a-hopin' and a-wishin' on a star it wouldn't!

If this ends up a simple game like the Pirates! remake then people are going to die.
 
It's probably gonna be simplified, though it doesnt look that complex to begin with, it is still EA, Evil Asstards :>
 
This game is so ambitious I fear this is going to be the first of many to come.
 
I have a bad feeling from what I read that EA might be trying to make spore a MMO.

The CEO stressed the importance of giving the ambitious game enough time to create a franchise with lasting power "like The Sims."

Probably the only EA-developed game I'll be buying anytime soon. If it's still awesome when it comes out, then all is good - there are a bunch of games coming out soon that I don't want to be distracted from :P
 
Meh it sucks for you guys that are actually looking forward to this game, but I myself just cant seem to really care or get excited for this game. :|
 
Bugger, why did they have to delay Spore again??? From what I have seen, it seems simple enough (though personally I think a DS release is impractical and a waste of time), so why dumb it down even further.

One final note: If it goes MMO, then I will just not buy it, period.
 
Meh, it'll be out when it is damn good and ready for mass consumption. I have too much else to worry about currently....

If Spore was a MMO i would be excited for it again. Making a world can only be so fun before it starts to drag on. If this was a MMO with the exact same features it would be the end of the world.

In other news...this delay is terrible. Now I'll be in college before this game comes out :sleep:
 
Why is it games like Spore and Quake Wars seem to make really good progress and release videos that look like a good stable state, then get delayed by months or years? :(

The thing that I dont like about Spore being an MMO is, with the current gameplay mechanics it has, there seems to be no need for it to be an MMO (usless the AI blows hard). There would be endless worlds to explore and colonize, and with regular updates of new community content, the material is constantly fresh. Plus that would mean a subscription fee (knowing EA), and to me that sux cause I dont have a credit card :(

The creatures, vehicles, and buildings the player can create will be uploaded automatically to a central database (or a peer-to-peer system), cataloged and rated for quality (based on how many users have downloaded the object or creature in question), and then re-distributed to populate other players' games.

Yes but it really only there to share the creativity of other players, not to connect with other players.
 
EA are probably pressing Maxis to get Sims 3 out the door as it's a sure fire money spinner and has guaranteed after sales with endless expansion packs.
