Sprays?

I haven't been able to get my sprays to work in TF2 so far... I've tried 12, 24, and 32 bit TGAs and I've even converted my spray to a VTF manually, but it wont work. Additionally, I havent seen any sprays from other players...

Do they even work?

After some research, it seems that the spray system in TF2 is terribly broken, but you can still get sprays to work by importing them into CS:S first.

I've seen people get them to work, but I'm usually way to busy to figure it out.

Yea...i seem to be having difficulties making my spray paint work...iv tried changing the file type as well but nothing. Depending on the file type that i put it tells me a different error. The latest error is "cannot load vtex.dll, restart steam so you can update steam" - something like that. Btw, all the file types that i try are file types that are SUPPOSE to work....

Eitherway, its a goddamn mission now, in my opinion, to put your own spray. If anybody has been successful, tell me what and how you did it.

To get your custom spays into TF2 you need to load them into your HL2 Deathmatch game then copy your entire Materials folder from
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<user name>\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp
to your Tf folder
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\<user name>\team fortress 2\tf

Yeah, sprays are completely b0rked for me, I can't use custom nor are there any sprays already there, drop down menu reveals nothing.

above method worked fine for me :)

How about coping vtex.dll from any Steam online game? its Located in bin folder.

Transferring vtex.dll does not work--but importing the image and transferring it to tf2 works.

The lack of sprays are horrid for me. I always press 'T' and nothing comes out. So so sad.

euhhhh, just purchased the orange box.
can start Portal, TF2 and HL2... but how the heck do you start HL2 multiplayer ?

completely wrong place, but hey!

IT's called "Half-Life 2 Deathmatch"

hl2 deathmatch was released after hl2 as a gift to those who bought hl2. For some odd reason they didn't include it in the orange box. It seems their marketing strategy was to get people to want to buy episode 2 by introducing new people to hl2 and episode one. The "gifting" thing works out to their favor from their point of view. Plus it make for good PR.
