Does anyone else feel that the sprint button is ruining deathmatch
It annoys the hell out of me as it causes huge lag
Most of the time when trying to gun down an enemy the sprint function makes them appear to appear and disappear
It is i feel the only reason why hl deathmatch will always be better and more fluid
It is definitely the most disappointing and unnecessary element of the online game (mp7 aside :dozey: )

If the regular move speed was a little faster, and there was bunnyhop, then there would be no need, but for now, I like it.

obviously. the sprint is one of the most idiotic and noob-friendly things i've EVER seen. not to mention how retarded it looks when people spring, and the lag issue. god forbid if their is a bunnyhop that requires time and skill to learn!

lol you would figure valve would fix some of this seeing as there are less and less hl2dm servers everyday. BUt nop

Well duh.

But sadly hardely anyone but the leet will play it, and they'll put everyone else off :p

Well i personally never want to see bunny hopping ever again....!!!
But the game could strike a happy medium between normal mwalk and sprint and get rid of sprint for a longer jump or proper crouch jumping
there's no reason that one thing - sprinting should cause lag
the physics are laggy enough!!!
Basically more weapons, more speed no sprint would make the game more skilful
Any news on AG2 or on HLDM being ported????

I've never had any trouble with lag due to sprinting.

I mean, players full-out dissappearing? That must have something more to do with PC problems than the game itself.

I would like to see the run speed in hl2dm sped up and the sprint taken out. It feels too slow when I'm not sprinting.

You think you're leet? HA! *dies over laughing*

j/k bro

I will be playing it.

uh oh, you better run disturbed ;)

btw, I don't care if they take it out if they increase the run speed a lot

Heh, Disturbed and I are both in [-X-] which is more of a club now than a clan - I play for SAFT in HL2DM :) [and will do in AG2 too ]

I would definatley play HLDM more if it werent for the sprint function, but sprinting hardly ruines the game...

Also, most servers I play on don't prevent bunnyhopping, but the speed gain isn't really worth all the effort.

We never ran our clan as a real clan, we are all friends in it, we don't fight each other(well usually) just look for a good time, but trust me, if JaGer, me, ExecuterX, you, and Lector played a match, most clans(when we were still active in op4 before hl2) probably wouldn't be able to beat us. pH probably would've but the whole clan is full of talent, and played more than all of us probably :p K9 weren't that scary, well when they had bi0_gauss they were, but when he left nahhhhh.

Indeed :)

What about ol' Knacker.. he's stuck on WoW atm :|

I'd love to play a clan like [=ONE=] or [pmers] though :)

I'd be horribly owned :p

Op4 is still a fun game for me, not serious in anyway, except this upcoming tourney.. I got a bad draw :|

I don't see the problem with Sprint. it's pretty balanced, in my opinion - maybe the recharge rate should fall a little?

With the first release, I kind of agree that sprinting was a bit annoying. However, we now have the crowbar, and there is nothing more satisfying (NOTHING!) than chasing someone down with an RPG and 'barring them in the head. If the overall speed jogging was increased, it'd be good, as long as sprint increases as well.

I agree with your points there...i dont like the sprint however.my comp doesnt like it when i have a certain number of buttons pressed. either that or it picks certain commands to do til i leace go of one of the buttons!

I linked sprint to my mouse's thumb button. That'd be a quick way to solve the too many keys problem.

i just have enter as my sprint button. I just reach over with my pinky and *SPAF* i become like Carl Louis

Gotta be honest I prefer the sprint option to the "Bunny hopping" of HL1.
I saw far too many who played like buggs bunny on speed and were impossible to hit! Now at least there is a chance, and you KNOW that at some point they are going to have to stop running!

I thought the bunny hop was rather annoying too.. and besides, it was kind of strange seeing all of these RPG wielding HL veterans hopping around..

I think the sprint button adds a bit more strategy to the game as a whole.. it makes you more wary of what's behind you, because you never know when someone might rush up and, as Dinkleberry said, bash your brains out.

You also have to learn how to conserve it and use it in the right situation, which makes the game a bit harder because you have more things to keep in mind. It also intensifies the gravity gun battles :) .

personally i dont have a problem with sprinting......just means they get closer to my shotgun quicker..... :sniper:

Except bunnyhopping players were easy to catch :p

Even I can do it :p

if someone bunnyhops just give them an RPG to the nether reagions....at that speed they cant avoid moving objects

How about decrease overall speed to a old mans crawl and make sprint a young mans walk? Might reduce lag *Shrugs*

Sprint does not cause lag. If lag exists, it might increase the distance they "jump" when it's not updating them correctly, but it certainly does not cause it.

There are ways to conserve power, such as doing a sprint-jump then hopping quickly to keep your momentum. I've gotten killed a few times by running out of power, but most of the time I have that one bar needed to make a sprint-jump out of the way.

I think Sprint adds to the game, and sets HL2DM apart from other DM games.

If you're being sniped, you can use sprinting to further randomize your speed and trajectory. Makes yourself a pretty challenging target.

Something you could do with walking before ;) But slowing down isn't really the trick though.

Calling Sprinting "idiotic and noob-friendly" or saying it destroys the game just sounds like one big barrel of sour grapes to me. Far too often, gamers bemoan a new feature simply because better players learn to exploit it whilst they drag their knuckles and complain rather than bothering to adapt. Besides, sprinting is a really small leap - this isn't Unreal Tournament 2 with its Super Mario esque jumping and dodging moves.

I rather have it disabled and have always run optional instead to get faster gameplay.

/me likes the sprint fuction
And I don't think its as n00b as everyone thinks it is. It requires some good coordination skill and timing to make good use of it. you can easely bump against a wall if you cant navigate well and you need an exelent timing because enyone who is a bit good in DM can shoot you before you try to sprint towards the guy and shotty him from upclose.

I think it's funny because the hit boxes lag behind them and I get air kills all the time at sprinting people.

YES!
Disable this anoying sprint and get an allways run option into the game.
Or in general a more Q3 like movement would be great. Imo quake3 has the best movement and weapon balancing ever in a game. There are no **** n00b-keycombos like in UT and Painkiller.

I love Q3, which is why I continued playing after the Q3test versions until I starte with HL2DM, but I don't think it has the best movement and weapon balancing. But some of the best, along with HLDM/AG and UT/03/04. I also like PK a lot, but I don't know how the weapons are balanced anymore.
