From Pitchfork:

Way to curb expectations with that title, Jenkinson! Squarepusher-- the nom de jam of English IDM pioneer and really good bassist Tom Jenkinson-- will issue his full-length follow-up to 2006's Hello Everything on October 27 in the UK from Warp.

It's called Just a Souvenir, and, well, let's just hope it gets a little more use than an engraved keepsake spoon, eh? You can catch your first taste of the record via the manic-as-ever "Delta-v" over in Forkcast.

Squarepusher will have plenty of time to collect knickknacks before a couple of live dates way off in December, including a set at the Mike Patton/Melvins-curated ATP Nightmare Before Christmas.

Just a Souvenir:

01 Star Time 2
02 The Coathanger
03 Open Society
04 A Real Woman
05 Delta-v
06 Aqueduct
07 Potential Govaner
08 Planet Gear
09 Tensor in Green
10 The Glass Road
11 Fluxgate
12 Duotone Moonbeam
13 Quadrature
14 Yes-Sequitur

According to Pitchfork, and no doubt a few other sites, Warp included most likely, this news has been floating around for a good two weeks or so now but I'm just coming to hear it so whatever. Regardless, there you go.

''Delta-v'' can be heard over at http://www.myspace.com/warprecords

It's pretty good. Very different to anything I've heard Tom do before. It's all a bit rock/metalish but as the song progresses it starts to flow more Jenkinson-like. Basically, it starts getting messier and messier which is no bad thing. Not bad, not great, but I eagerly await the new album with much anticipation.

I've always wanted to check out Squarepusher's work, I've heard a few songs, mostly the jazzy and funky sounding ones. Tom Jenkinson is really awesome.

Recommended Album to start?

Hard Normal Daddy. Jazzy/funky galore.

Delta-V was pretty interesting. Great drums. Would have been better without the distortion.

Album has leaked. I've no idea how long it has been circulating but I just found out two minutes ago. PM for a link if you want. I'll be listening to it in about 20 minutes. :D :D :D

EDIT: It hasn't leaked, it was made available on bleep for download, so yeah.

jesus what happened to tommyboy

the tracks aren't bad, but this is fucking squarepusher, he's not supposed to be "not bad", he's supposed to be fuckin squarepusher. i guess he's laughing all the way to the bank though

he seems to play all the good stuff live though

hard normal daddy, then ultravisitor.. forget about this new progtronic crap

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm two tracks in and it's still quite Hello Everything. I mean, I can dig it but I much prefer his darker, messed up stuff with the jazz infusions then I do this happy bouncy stuff with a bit too much bass guitar. The guys a great player yeah, I know, I just preferred it in smaller doses or with a little more consistency ala Beep Street, etc.

I fear I'm not going to be hearing anymore Theme of Ernest Borgine, Ultravisitor or Massif anytime soon. :(
