stalker video + beta this month

No subscriber for me, oh well.

Hopefully they go out to a more mass beta system after a few weeks of FP exclusivity.
 
I don't really care about the beta for FP subscribers, considering a ton of other places are already handing out keys via competitions which are based off your knowledge of STALKER, I've signed up for three of'em, hopefully I'll win atleast one :)
From what I've heard, the beta WILL eventually go OPEN beta, i.e. avaible for everyone to sign up for.:)
 
FFS FP exclusive...

Waiting for the open beta then.
 
It's not really FP exclusive, just a few days ago an online gaming magazine(english) gave out 200 free keys :)
 
Hope they release an Open Beta sooner rather than later! :D
 
Some of the scenery in that vid and especially that chopper looked... just... mong. Playing this is going to be like time travelling back to the 20th century.
 
I wouldn't actually be all that sure it will be leaked before the FP beta, I mean tons of keys has already been given out and to those that have keys, a d/l is avaible, but it hasn't leaked.. Also, you need a serial to install and play the beta, but I guess there will always be cracks.. But keep in mind this is a MP only beta.. Not SP in any way..

Nice find, there's some interesting gameplay scenes in there. Gotta admit it looks kinda fun. :)
Interesting use of Diablo tristram music in the bg. "Stay a while and lishen!"
 
I'm dissappointed in one thing, in the new gamespot dev interview, the dev says in MP you can get killed by a single headshot, but to kill the PLAYER in SP, the AI has to unload HALF A CLIP into the players head?
I seriously hope that's on the easiest difficulty setting or something because that sounds ****ED.

Nope.. I didn't win a key, I know FIVE ****ing people who did though, God must hate me or something eh, they all brag about how good it is and have leaked a few screens to me, it does look really sweet..
I'm gonna purchase a FP subscription as soon as FP starts giving away their STALKER keys..

The closed MP beta is available on torrents and elsewhere.
 
Heh, I'm already playing it.
Edit: Removed this because I remembered it would probably get me banned for talking about the beta and how it is playing etc..

Anyway, after playing the beta, I can say I'm extremely hyped to play the SP game, the environment and mood of it is ****ing awesome.. Whilst SP will be dissappointing with some features removed, I'm hoping a decent mod community will build up!
 
there's no NDA for the mp beta of stalker afaik ..impressions would be appreciated ..oh and you yurop-eans suck for getting beta keys ahead of north americans ;) ..and screw fileplanet
 
Okay, well, my impressions are good so far, the mood of the maps is great, they have the most authentic feel I've ever encountered, very gritty and real, okay, some dissappointing things, 1. Skyboxes and 2. The sun, the sun is a ****ing DISC, they should make it so that when you look into it your eyes get blurred or its incredibly bloomed etc, right now it's a ****ing disc with orange colour..

So eh, good weapons, good feel, good customization for weps, some balance is poor, for example they use RL weaponry, one fo the first snipers you get when you gain rank in MP is a fully automatic sniper, 10 rounds, problem is if you crawl, it's superaccurate, even when shooting fully automatic, so basically it's a killer-wep.

More positive things, real-time day-night cycle in MP, it takes a long while but it looks cool, the game runs decently on my comp, Core 2 Duo E6600 2.5 Ghz, 2 gigs of high-end ram and a 7900GT; I can run it good with all settings maxed 1024x768 with full AA and AF and fully dynamic softshadows etc. Some graphicfeatures are not included in the beta though, for example TEXTURES casting shadows, you know grass for example or the parts in steel 'fences', the 'open' ones.
The HDR is also very good actually, not overdone in the least, when you indoor it gets a bit lighter sky outside etc but that's about it.
 
It seems that fileplanet have released a old beta and the right(new) one will be released in a short time. THQ aparently blame misunderstandings.

I have seen so many good "sun pictures". Maybe it is because of the wrong bug filled beta? the mood is unbeatable. day/night/weather cycle is so nice. Thumbs up!
 
Gargantou, is there a 1280x1024 option, and is it possible to use the ALT key in controls?
 
Yes to both!:) Hmm, I can't wait for this fixed beta, maybe it'll add in some of the bugged graphics options, such as lightning and particle distance!
 
I started to Sub to FP yesterday, how do i get this Beta though?
 
I don't think FP has given out their STALKER beta keys yet..?

Cool beans. What about the caps-lock key, is that usable too? my key setup is kinda weird :D
