questions

1. how much like it battlefield 1942 is it?

2. are their planes?

3. is it good?

4 is it open mic?

5. hows the lagg?

1. only in theory
2. yes
3. see 2
4. can be
5. depends upon server, like any other game.

well, wehn u say can be, if i have a mic, can i yell at people.

and describe ur ping

my ping is as good as it is in cs... id wait awhile, it really isnt as great as its cracked up to be (yes im changing my opinion). i think its fun, others might not. wait for the demo.

in my short experience

pro:
graphics
action packed, and quick gameplay
"neat" factor (at-at @ hoth base anyone?)
music, of course

con:
AI
map design: sucks
aircraft control: sucks
can get tiresome; but has replay value.

its hard to be better than bf42, but i think battlefront is an improvement on the genre.

when u say has sucky maps, sucky like in one sided, or no originality

and bad aircraft control, over sensitive or, like when heli were first in bf1942?

I hated Bf1942 air controls, i cannot get my god damn gamepad to work well with it.
I doub't the maps are 1 sided as the commercial said "From any side"
He probably means the detail in the maps or something.

I got it and i was kinda a let down.

The maps are shitty because they are small, the planes are to quick to be useful.

The game has bots while your playing so it never really feels empty. Cool battles on Naboo i must say though.

Another bad point: YOU CANT RUN OVER GUYS WITH TANKS...that pissed me off.

And the maps in bf1942 are much better, but the shootouts (using rifles and such) is alotbetter in Battlefront.

I have to agree with Calhoun, SWB is a bit of a letdown.. AI sucks, maps suck, speeder bike is useless in a map like Endor with all it's freaking trees, and the one thing that really got me was that the grenade has absolutely no use! You throw it at a guy and 5 seconds later it explodes! What's the friggin point!?

Ive had it for about 5 hours now, played it for about 2 1/2 and i wanna get my money back already.

AH! You guys are depressing. I was preparing to sneak out tomorrow to purchase this game, but now You guys are saying it's another DOOM 3 (high expectations, but poor execution).

Would you recommend it to someone who hasn't purchased Battlefield 1942? Is it something a Star Wars fan should pick up? Are your standards too high, lol?

My standards are never too high most of the time. I really was trying to like this game, and i like star wars. But the action is intense but at the same time boring as hell.

Driving the AT-AT was slower than a grandma running a mile (NOTE: im thinking of a grandma who has broken legs.)

If you really really like SW than get it. Dont be surprized when it gets old fast tho. IDK maybe i havent played to its full extent but thus far its kinda boring.

((and yeah just agree with six3 the speeder bike sucked ass, i dided the 2 times i got on it within 5 seconds because of the trees.))

The AT-AT is such a big machine to begin with. It's basically a movable gun. I would simply use the thing for it's firepower, not for ramming into things. (I wonder if anyone can get crushed by the legs?)

Intense action, but boring as hell? You mean kinda like a Serious Sam or Painkiller type experience? (I ejoyed those games btw)

It sounds like it's more fun to knock people off the speeder bikes than it is to actually drive them. When you think of it, they do go upwards of 50 km. You would need Jedi reflexes to manouver the trees. :E

Since I like Star Wars, I was thinking of picking this up (sice good Star Wars games a rare). But now I'm in the middle. It's good, but it's not good. Fun but not fun.

I hope that a free demo will come out soon. I doubt I will be getting the DVDS to play that particular demo included. I'll have to sleep on it and then go by impulse tomorrow or whatever...

i wouldn't say good sw games are rare. looks at jedi knight series, sw:rebellion imo is really fun. many people have immensely enjoyed kotor(knights of the old republic), and there are others. no, there are many enjoyable sw games.

Well its really up to you anyone, just hold on to the receit.

And about the AT-AT's their firepower is highly damaging but it shoulds two lasers at the same time about ever 7 seconds....not veryy good.

I like the single player better tahn multiplayer too.

True, from a console standpoint; but I would argue that Star Wars games on the PC have not been good up until recently.

Sounds to me like the game was rushed just to match the release date of the DVD release, and not pushed back instead.

And I didn't know that you can return a game once the packaging has been removed. I thought at the very most you could only exchange it for a different copy of the same game.

Do u all have it for PC or what?

I would hope so because I'm hearing that there are subtle differences that make both games slightly different. Console versions are getting the better reviews (probably because they came out before the PC version), while the PC version of the game has not had as many thus far.

I've decided to wait a week until I get a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the game. If you are going to spend money on something it better be worth it; especially when there are a whole slew of other games becoming avaliable as well (i.e. Call of Duty: United Offence, Evil Genius, Burnout 3, Half-Life 2, even Halo 2 ;) ).

EDIT: That is of course, unless someone can convince me that it is definately worth the money, by tomorrow afternoon...

Well I know Compusa will let you return it if it doesn't work on your PC.

I personally like it, considering the very little time I have actually had for it.
It is very action packed and has a big starwars feel to it. (Which is good! duh)
I actually liked how the vehicles moved except for the map being small and them going fast. I think how they cotrol adds to the StarWars feel.
I don't think it has as much substance as other Battlefield type games but it's very similar and makes up for it with the action and ground gameplay.

I saw Darth Vader too! Although I'd also recommend waiting for a demo, if one comes out...

this game is great. Not only does it run smooth but it auto detects everything at high :D

I can't confirm it yet (I haven't purchased the game, and I just finished installing the DEMO), but just generalizing what others have said: DOOM 3 was a disappointment to those who are not die-hard fans of the series. This theory has still yet to be proven by me (the DEMO), so there is still a chance that I am wrong in that statement.

As for Battlefront, the fanbase is significantly smaller than that of DOOM 3; but for those who were expecting good things from this game, appear to have had the thrill wear off much too early. :|

I also heard that there is a mode in single-player, where you get a chance to conquer the galaxy. Battles are fought until one party takes control of a planet, and then so on and so forth until everything is taken.
Is this mode as good as it sounds? Too bad it isn't a multiplayer option; that would have sold the game for me right there. :bounce:

The gameplay is different but the mechanics are similar to Battlfield type games. You capture Flags and you have a point system which drops if the other team has more flags.

The single player is pretty cool. It's basicly playing each map in the series and as you beat it you go to the next one. If you are defeated, you play it again until you win.

I'll have to say, the ground fighting is much better than battlefield games. I'm still enjoying it and it does a good job of making it feel like Star Wars, unlike some of the other Star Wars games. There is a lot of action and it isn't like in Battlefield where you have to walk and walk to get anywhere. Those who disliked Battlefield for that reason will probably like this.
