yesterday a bunch of people (including me) were pissed off about it saying "ready to play" launching sucessfully until after the valve for an eye guy, gettting to the fuzzy city scene and crashing...
I found the problem... it was half me being a retard and half Steam being unclear on "ready to play"...
whilst it claimed HL2 was updated ready to play, offline mode ready... it had actually only downloaded 57% at that stage... opened the monitor in Steam and found out it still had 43% to download.... installed newest Nvidia card and Mobo drivers, creative Audigy 2 drivers whilst i waited.. and one it got to 100% down... she started up and ran like a treat... smooth, high frames, and glitch free...
so just in case anyone from yesterday was being as dumb as me... now you know..
