Started playing HL again

Waiting for HL2 I thought I should play through HL again to get the feeling. After 20 mins of playing I realized HL is 10 times better than doom3, yes HL1!! I was scared to death even though I remmber all the scripted sequences. And on hard.....it was HARD. Don't waste your ammo. Now go play HL1 and have a blast while waiting for nr. 2

Yes, it was a lot more fun, interesting and varied than Doom 3.

However I've already finished it 7 times, and while I occasionally get an urge to play it, when I do I feel bored and unsatisfied. Same thing happens to me with Diablo 2 now. Oh well.

HL is great. But scary? Cmon...

Not really any scary parts in it. A few shocks (damn vents and headcrabs!). More eerie and weird, I would say. I can still vaguely remember when I first played it, during the cascade when you get teleported to the small dark room with the 4 alien slaves standing there. It was... weird.

Just kidding! I love those sarcastic, ironic and pessimistic creatures that breed in our forums. Yeah, HL is a classic and will always be. It had good lots of creepy scenes. :naughty:

Talking of old skool, there was an awesome deathmatch map made for HLDM. It was basically designed for a maximum of four people, and it was a small room on two levels, with a storage room (tiny) on the first level.

The only weapons were the shotgun, and a small clutch of grenades in the storage room, which had a 5 second delay on opening and closing.

If anyone can remember the name of this map, or has any more info about it - I would love to know. This map was absoultely superb, within 5 minutes you had racked up about 20 kills, and as soon as you spawned someone was in your face.

HL1 is still the best single player fps ever made in my eyes. cant wait for the sequel to continue the story and maybe help us understand more about what happened at black mesa
