Static Monitor / Camera help Please !!

Does anyone know how to make a simple static monitor ???
All the tutorials i found say Tie entity to func_monitor for starters but it isnt in the list ???

Any help REALLY appreciated its doing my head in

I have made my screen using the nodraw texture...then applied the "tvmonitornoise" texture to a face as shown in all the tutorials....then selected the whole brush and clicked "tie to entity " ( so far so good )

The list appears but there is no Function_monitor in the list ????
Now either im getting something wrong or reading Halflife tutorials and not HL2 and its been changed

Im sure il find something but just wondered if anyone had come across this problem.

i even downloaded the mapfile and the "point camara entity"came up as an Obsolete icon within the map ???
Are you sure thats not a half-life hammer tutorial and not a halflife 2 ???

Ahhh !!
Hang on the entity has now changed to "point devshot camara"
This is now showing up in the map

Now if i could just find what the "Funcion_Monitor" has been replaced with im in business

The devshot camera is a different entity entirely.

Hmm !!!
So WTF is happening here ???? those entities ( func_monitor etc ) mentioned arent listed in the tie to entity ....They show as obsolete icons or balls when i load the demo mapfile....my editor and hl2 is fully updated.....Has anyone else tried a camara/monitor ??

Perhaps my HL2 or SDK is corrupt

Ok i kind of found the problem....if i load the SDK and select deathmatch all the entities required show up and the demo map works...However if i select my mod (which was a start from scratch ) they dont show up and the map doesnt work ????

Any ideas on that one ???

Use it in the editor for your mod.

Im obviously not as advanced in hammer as you...

But then i dont speak to people like "SHIT" either so i guess in a sense i am slightly brighter than you in that department :angry:
And i may give you a run for your money in Radiant if not Hammer !!! But im getting there.

I Actually missed this post you put earlier...I probably owe you an apology....It looked like i ignored your post and the next one makes more sense to me now why you posted it like that

But to many people saw the post above for me to edit it and i admit if im wrong !!! :dork:
Besides the version i wrote that you would have got told about would probably have been worse so i will cut my losses and let you see it.
Truth is i know nothing about the FGD.
