This is what I would like Steam 3 to be like.
NOTE: This is concept only, therefor is not actually working. Everything was done inside of Photoshop.
Home:
This is the main window browser where you can browse latest games, deals and news. But where are the scroll bars? Well, there are none. You scroll throughout the pages bu clicking and holding the mouse button on the Pod. The circle with the three triangular buttons bottom right of the window. This will safe a lot of space, and will make scrolling around a lot easier. You can also click on the triangular buttons once to either go to home page, or back and next.
Games List: Two Views
View 1: Thumbnail
In this viewing mode you can see your games in a lagre thumbnail type view, which could possibly be scalable depending on how big your window is and how many games you have. You can get to the next screen by either right-clicking on your game and click on Info, or changing viewing mode to Settings.
View 2: Info Mode
This viewing mode will display detailed information on each game. Such as update percentage, size, developer, website and whatever info is needed.
Steam Friends:
This is what I would like Steam Friends list to look like. Simple but functional. You don't need fancy functions, all you need is an IM and Join Game button on each profile. You can simply remove someone by clicking on the X box, it will ask to block and remove or just remove. The status of each player is real time, so if they're playing on a server you can join, or if they are just in game and not actually playing it will tell you.
Chat Window:
This basic looking chat window is not only good looking, but is very functional. It includes VoIP which can be used in-game. It includes a profile viewer (working on that) where you can see what the player is doing.
You can also customize your colors for your text.
