Steam 3 crashes my HL2.exe

as the title says, the new steam update crashes my hl2. I am working day and night trying to keep the deadline for my mod in a couple of weeks and I need hl2 up and working WITHOUT reinstallation. Does anyone know how I can solve this? it doesnt give me any indication to the problem it just crashes right when it starts. I'm REALLY cheesed off about this. Thanks.

same bug here, valve majorly screwed up once again with a steam update...ridiculous to say the least, but TBH Im not surprised.

Does your steam path has a space in it (i.e c:\program files\valve\steam)? If so, the solution is here:
