A German site interviewed Gabe Newell on Steam and its payment options: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hlportal.de%2F%3Fsite%3Dnews%26do%3Dshownews%26news_id%3D4621&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
He said in 2 more weeks Steam will accept PayPal transactions and in 6 weeks direct debit card transactions. So fear no more credit card haters because a solution is coming very soon! Also there are some pics of the box that the new vids were shown in and a new pic of Gabe. :imu:

I'm glad they worked out the big problems with those payments :)

Now a much bigger audience can enjoy Steam's library.

FINALLY!

I've been waiting for this for so long, PayPal ftw. :D

Perfect timing, I start college too so this will work on my card I'll soon be receiving. Paypal's even easier, already have that!

I wonder how the debit card thing will work. MAybe it's only for Americans?

Woah, that box looked nice! :p Wonder what the blue neon-ish light was coming from..o_O

Direct debt card transactions is using you ATM card. Steam takes money purchases directly from your checking account. This is kinda risky though because its much less secure than using a credit card or PayPal. Basically if somebody was very naughty at Valve they could wipe out your checking account! :O But on a credit card they can only take out a certain amount and the credit card protects your ass from theft. So just remember that even though using your ATM card on Steam is convenient it is also fairly risky. Just a little clarification. ;) To be honest I use a pre-paid credit card for internet purchases and its available at Walgreens, etc: https://www.greendotonline.com/contents/login.aspx

Yeah but with online purchases don't you have to enter a card expiry date? My debit card doesn't seem to have one.

It's a debit card from a Canadian bank btw.

Meh,I have a Debit Card *which works like a CC* so no sweat on my back...

That's a great idea with Paypal - I'm sure it will increase sales and make things easier for a lot of people.

Debit cards are better than credit cards - you only have to pay for things once, see?

We'll have to see how long this paypal option lasts, I can see what some rather shady people will be doing with this.

Shady people? Why would the involvement of Paypal give shady people any power?

They're finally letting us Canadians buy with Debit? YES!
