Steam account disabled

WTF? Is it because I've never got on steam for about 3 months? When I try to get back on steam today, it says my account is disabled.

Any ideas?
 
Your account has been disabled because of credit card fraud, or attempting to steal a game.
 
I haven't done any illegal such as playing a free HL2 or getting a free acount, nor using a hacks in CS. I'm not a n00b who uses a freakin hack on public servers and I haven't been on CS for three months before my account got disabled.

whether he cheated or not, or if his account for some unknown reason was disabled.... i mean,what does he wat US to do about it. talk to valve. no point telling us.

Well, go ahead and post a challenge at the steampowered.com forums. If they're feeling nice, they might trace your IP and present an itemized list of all the things you've done that have resulted in a ban.

that's true, but that still doesn't warrant calling him a cheater.

It's not impossible, just extremely unlikely.

Another possibility is that his account has been compromised by a third party. I know of one instance where someone did not take due diligence in securing his CD key and his roommates copied it and gave it to all their buddies which resulted in his account being closed. He had no idea any of that was happening until he couldn't log in to Steam, so he naturally blamed Valve. Of course, it was entirely his fault for not keeping his CD case in a secure location.

Did you think that they did it for fun?

Some weird guy they have employed getting kicks by banning people from playing an online game?

Of course not, fact is you've done something you should have and valve knows this.

There's no point coming crying to us anyway, there's nothing that we can do about it.

you probably did something, even just a little bit, think back, did you try things like no cd cracks, or for a laugh see if you could download a game with a fake CC number. it keeps a record of everything you do on your account. If you've let a mate use it then talk to him too.

I work on the Steam admin team just to do that, banning people I don't like

My job title is The Bast*rd.
 
:0 i would cay CHEATS CHEATS!! but VAC2 is not out yet so it means he was cheating on perhaps the halflife 1 engine whihc vac does exist for :)

ever give your account out to anyone? or how secure is your network, you could have had your account stolen, then anything could have happened from there.
 
I went to steam forum and there are bunch of people who got their account disabled also. They didn't do anything wrong, and they say their accounts may have been hacked.
 
accounts being hacked cant be proen unless you have logs of Everything on your computer which can be proved to be valid, and you kinda need to have those logs in the first place :p
 
I thought they send out an e-mail to you when your account gets closed. Check your e-mail and see if it says anything.
 
Everyone says they have not done anything wrong, yet most of the time Valve come back with reasons such as card owner contesting the charge or the use of cd-keys which have been floating around the net.

I am pretty sure a very very small amount of people who are banned - were banned by mistake.
 
If you were banned by mistake make a support ticket on the steam forumsf(support link at top) and a Valve employee will check your account history to see if you actually did something.

Uh yeah, account banned, Email VALVe. They'll be happy to point out why you got banned....
 
okay, I have a similar problem. Haven't played HL2 online in a while, then went to sign in, and it has been disabled. And before anyone says anything, no I haven't hacked/cheated/stole or done anything illegal. I contacted Steam and I got the reply,
"Your account was disabled because your email address has been tied to hijacked accounts and you will not be getting any of your accounts back."

Now wtf is that suppose to mean? Can anyone help?

Boy, these people haven't responded with anything intelligent, I'd say Valve is doing a great job of eliminating ****in hackin cheatin fags!!! Good job Valve, keep it up!... I haven't seen one argument backing up these idiots! These are the same idiots that would cheat at the drop of a hat!!!! Eliminate them all I say.. Quit whining and buy the game dumbasses!! Another thing, I havent seen one of these idiots mention how much the've spent on the game, and how much money they are out! This tells me, they hacked the game... I know the first thing I would be bitching about is how much I spent, and now I'm out the money... But, that hasn't happened!!!!

Ouch. Do you log in to your computer, and type in your username and password every time you open steam? If you so could have been hit by a keylogger - I'd scan your computer immediately.

I had better do that now too. I play CSS everyday though, and I haven't entered my steam pass for ages :)
 
I press ctrl alt delete every day....
just to make sure nothing is screwing me over...

Eventually you learn what is suppose to be up and what isn't.

I think you're trying to say you used the word "fag" or something similar as a euphimism. So, without further ado, the definition of euphemism:

this is aggravating me a bit. sure, maybe he should have posted at steam, but to attack him as such. get a grip people. there are TONS of people getting their steam accounts stolen right now.
