On the steam page my games when I click on HL2 instead of launch it only shows purchase button,I can`t play .

Delete your clientregistry.blob file in your Steam folder and try again.

just restart steam and your problem will be fixed. its a common problem.

Or you haven't actually paid for it yet. That's also a common problem.

The sad thing is that the students at the schools I teach I hear are playng a copied version of the game that bypasses steam and are having no issues at all. So even some of the students that bought it are putting it aside for a copied version. This isn't fair to those of us who bought it and are dealing with steam errors.

When word gets out about steam problems (and there are many), people may look for the copied version instead of buying it now.

My suggestion to those having issues is to install a seperate dual boot XP on a seperate partition and have this a vanilla version of XP just for gaming and steam worked well for me under a special gaming partition I made. I also use NOD-AV that uses min resources.

Dosen't that tell you something? If you have to have a seperate install of XP thats not full of shit for gaming, then maybe you should just stop filling your computer with shit?

And before you start, I am carefull of what I download, and I have never had a major problem with steam. Look after your PC and it will look after you.

I hear ya!! keep a seperate business and gaming partition and dont mingle them together. And if you get an OEM windows with you computer FOS, reformat and get a vanilla version of windows. I forgot to mention that was also key.
