This patch should be applied automatically, however if it doesn't go to file in Steam, and click 'Check for Steam Client Updates'. Changes include:
  • Added contact email account verification by request and on new account creation
  • Improved account security with verified contact email to prevent phishing
  • Added mod support for Killing Floor
  • Fixed memory leak
  • Added 'officers-only chat' mode to group chats
Hopefully this should reduce cases of phishing significantly, however you should always be cautious and sensible with your account details. Steam news.

I get tons of these people phishing. They just join the largest groups and spam people. Recently I have started to report them because it makes me feel better. The whole "verifying if you have a real e-mail" is vital as with the officers chat only.

Is there way to block group invites yet?

Well I wasn't going to use it, but now that Vegeta said something...

I like messing with phishers when they send me a link to one of those bogus "You've won free steam games! All you need to do is enter your username and password!" sites. My first response is always, "I don't have a computer. Is there some way I can just call the website to claim my prize?" They usually stop after that.

I wish poeple in general weren't as guillible - these new security features wouldn't be needed and the time spent coding could be put to potentially better use.
