Why don't they do something useful and fix the server browser so that I don't have to refresh it a dozen times if I want to see any TF2 servers...?

While I'd usually complain about the speed of the Steam browser, I couldn't tell too much difference between it and Firefox 3. But then I didn't really run many extensive tests. What I do have an issue with, though, is when the browser becomes unresponsive. This includes things like the Store and Community. I end up just browsing using Firefox.

I'm not sure if you were responding to the above posts or not but I was talking about the server browser, not the web browser. The web browser is generally OK but I do sometimes get the problem with unresponsiveness that you mention.

My biggest problem is that game-monitor.com atm gives me a consistent figure of around 3880-ish TF2 servers. The number changes by a few on each search so I know it's updating itself - indeed the 'last updated' column rarely gives a time over 10 minutes. Steam's server browser on the other hand is giving me anything between 750-1300 servers depending on the luck of the refresh, which leads me to suspect that I'm not getting an accurate list at all. I've talked to other people and they seem to have the same thing. If GM is accurate that means Steam is causing me to miss out on something like 70% of servers, which is pretty shocking.

Not to go off on a tangent about the evils of Steam, but this is one of the things Valve should really be fixing since it could seriously stint the growth of TF2's popularity.

edit: and it's been like this for *ages* now.
