to kickstart VUG into an early release rather than waiting 6 months? Just because CS:Source is going final doesnt mean hl2 is....

Thats the thing, I think it may be a marketing strategy from valve...
Since I can't wait to see the new builder along with HL2, I was going to buy the CD or DVD since I don't have any credit card... but now that CS:S is out and requires me to buy HL2 on steam, I might get someone to buy it for me on steam just coz I can't wait until late november if the rumor is true.

From a marketing point of view, it would be a very good way to get more people on steam rather than to wait for HL2 in store coz we still have to buy HL2 on steam even if we can't play yet to play CS:S.

also can someon answer this...?
the bronze and silver etc.. package on steam, will they have the same kind of packages in stores when HL2 will come out or is it only for steam users?
