Quick little Steam Update has been released. If you have Steam running wait for it to tell you to restart, otherwise boot it up and have get the Update.[br]
* Support for the upcoming Red Orchestra update[br]* New version of the Hardware Survey to capture recent operating system and video card releases[br]* Fixed bug causing the Check for updates dialog to always display "Checking for updates..."[br]* Fixed desktop shortcuts and web links in Windows Vista

I hope they do the hardware survey in the Fall. Got me excited thinking the buddy pages beta or something was coming out. ;)

Can't connect to Steam network ;|

Either it shows that message right away or:

-Steam starts updating, but then shows the message anyway

-this shows up:

Damn, just when I wanted to play some CS:S. ><

Cannot contact the Steam network?

For the first time ever Steam is preventing me from playing.

Hm, I removed Steam from my firewall permit list so that it should ask me again when it tries to access the net, but it's not D: As if the message "can't connect to steam network" popped up without actually trying to connect to the network. WTF?

EDIT: Hm, looks like deleting/renaming the clientregistry.blob worked for me.

Try deleting ClientRegistry.blob and restarting. That usually solves those sort of problems (But you'll have to update Steam again)

In Vista i had to restart Steam and "run as administrator" to get both the update and the survey to work.

I honestley never like Red Orchestra, it was just too realistic for me, I mean the recil is insane, to place an airstrike takes like 5 minutes, and the tanks are hard as heck to use.

You made me think there was a new Steam update, and I had missed it on the front page of halflife2.net :frown:

Why did you bump this old thread? It's not like your observation was on topic or anything.
