asshole.jpg

i put my speed when installed at > 768k or w/e and my speed is

1302 kb/s down
485 kb/s up

i dont know why this happens...my connection hasn't ever really changed and i signed on like a week ago no problem. help!

edit: ALSO, i got the silver package about a year and a half ago. so i do have my own account etc.

uh can you read???? that error has nothing to do with your connection its with your steam id and/or password

You must have your own account and password to login in steam. And you
can have your account and password only if you buy original Half-Life 2,not
copy.On original you get a password for creating your own new account!

*sigh* i uploaded the wrong image...sorry...

updated first page with it

i was in a hurry to take a pic of it, i typed my password wrong heheh.

but yea, there it is plz help

Are you connected to the Net ? :P

Anyway, could it possibly be your router blocking the ports to Steam or something ?

Could be a router problem. Do you own a router and/or Firewall? You'll need to make sure you opened the ports so Steam can connect.

Unfortunately, you'll have to google for "Opening Ports [Your make of Router/ Name of Firewall]"

Hope that helps.

yea im connected lol, how'd i post this =P

but um, i forwarded 27000-27015 udp/tcp to my local ip.

still get the same message.

(i already knew how to do this stuff =P)

i also made myself (192.168.1.101) the DMZ host.

maybe thats not a good thing?

Are you sure the following ports are open? Link

If you have all the required ports open, try this:
Exit Steam. Delete the clientregistry.blob in the main Steam folder and the platform.gcf file in the Steamapps folder. But make a backup of them first by copying them in another folder! Now restart Steam.

god damn wtf is goin on??

i did all that, opened up some new ports...backed up and deleted those folders....still nothing.

Try reinstalling Steam then
I dunno what will happen to your game files tho :|

Hmmm... Try bringing your computer over to a friend's house who also has internet, so you can see if it's the router or the computer that is inhibiting you from connecting to Steam.

*once again i ask this question to someone with the same problem*

what motherboard do you have?

i dont really want to open my computer up but its mainly all stock so i googled the mother board and all i found was.

" DELL DIMENSION 8400 MOTHERBOARD" (dell =()

Well, i just recently received the same problem. Turns out turning DMZ hosting on does not allow steam to connect, so if you use a router with this config option turn it off. Same for windows programs that allow DMZ hosting. There is your quick fix. Reason i came across this error is because i was trying to run a Net2go website through my computer and needed to enable DMZ hosting in order for it to work. Thanks for your time and i hope this helps whoever needs it next time they search!
