Title says it all, after I plugged in my credit card information and was waiting for the purchase to finalize, Steam crashed, and to my shock and horror after restarting the client the games hadn't been added to my account (for pre-load or anything). I submitted a petition on the Steam support page but I'm still flipping out (that beta tomorrow and everything). The store even allows for me to purchase Orange Box all over again.. despite receiving an email thanking me and letting me know my credit card had been charged.

Anyone experienced something like this? Halp.

(bah, just realize this should probably be in hardware/software help and support - apologies)

Don't worry it's not the middle ages anymore, you can contact billing & support, they'll ask for some verification and you'll be preloading in no time.

With the customer base they have Valve really should have a phone support system.

I'm just worried because I want to play that beta tomorrow ;), and the fact that my card was charged without receiving a product. :-|

Yeah, I remember back in the middle ages when I bought a long sword off of Valve, and I was billed twice the price. I tried to complain but the customer service guy had died from the black death.

Well, the beta's not going anywhere so if you get in a day late because of a glitch, oh well. :)

It's not like they aren't going to give you the games because they obviously have a record of that transaction and can check your account to see if it has the games or not.

Phew, I deleted clientregistry.blob and the client.dll files and rebooted and Steam recognized the purchase.

Thread is now pointless, sorry to waste your time.

Post of the week.

Loleth I did.

Valve probably has some policy for this. If they received the payment then the transaction was completed and they should add the games to your account.

Not to mention it would show up on your monthly bank statement, which can be used for proof of purchase, especially as its a credit card transaction (or paypal) which can be easily tracked.
