I just installed steam and it converted all my files except my opposing force b/c it just kept saying converting for like 40 mins and I forced steam to shut down. After that, I ran steam and I go click on DoD and after a looong wait, nothing is happening.. someone help me :flame: :flame:

my bad... I didnt know I was still on HL2 general disc forum..

I agree Steam is a good concept, but it just isn't solid enough at the moment. Valve has been doing a good job so far, but to think you will need Steam to play Half-Life 2 (to be released in 18 days), I dought it will be ready at that time, considering all of the bugs and serious issues people are having with the software. I comend Valve for their attemt at making such a brilliant program, but attemts arn't good enough for a piece of software that will be as widely used as Steam will be, for the hundreds of thouasands of people that are going to be using it. Nice try Valve. But until you can get all of the bugs worked out, Steam will be a failure.

How can they fix the bugs if you dont give it a shot. I've seen you voice a lot against steam rollthedice, and while i agree with you that steam is a great concept that might be a little ahead of its time, there is no way valve can improve or fix steam if they dont put it into action. They NEED large amounts of people to see where their problems lie. Testing it internally wont cut it. I dont know about you but the Steam Beta ran perfectly for me. There might have been one or two little bugs but to be honest, it worked like a charm.

Steam (Final) has only been out a few days. Let them try first before you start BSing with petitions and strong "Steam Sucks" hails.

Dont take my post as a personal attack because i dont mean it like one. I just want you and others to realize that change doesnt come easy and they need to try implementing it to see how it will work in reality before they can even try to improve upon it.
