Hi, I have two copies of HL2DM. One is Steam and another is an older version of HL2DM that I use to play with some of my friends on LAN who do not have Steam nor can pay $10 for a Steam login or whatever at the moment. The demos I create in this older version of HL2DM are fine, but when I try to export, two problems occur:
1. The resulting WAV file is corrupt even on the correct sound settings. It only have a slight bit of sound, like a stutter of what was recorded in the first few frames of the demo.
2. The demo is buggy, stability-wise. It constantly freezes up and because of this, there is not a moment that goes by where I don't worry whether it will crash.

Now, the demo exporting on Steam works flawlessly, even the audio is perfect. However, I desperately want to be able to have this flawlessness with the older HL2DM. Just to give you an idea of how much a particular demo meant to me...
Two nights ago I had a 30min match with a friend and my performance in the game was the best I'd ever done in the year and a half or more that I'd been playing HL2DM for. I recorded the demo on my main harddrive, but was having severe driver issues and decided to restore an image of my harddrive I had made with Acronis True Image. Unfortunately, I forgot to copy the demo over to my storage harddrive before I did so. With my previous OS condition overwritten and restored from the image, the demo was obviously gone. I then spent about two days using 3 different (but very good) software data recovery programs. None of which had any success recovering my demo file.
My true passion lies within the art and creativity of film-making, so now you can see how much this all means to me. I love to record, edit and save my games to AVI.
"Why not just use Fraps?" you ask? Because for some strange reason my captures with it are pixelated and blocky and yes, I do use the latest drivers, which according to Fraps, are supposed to fix this particular issue. I even sent them an e-mail with screenshots of my issue.

When I try to play the older demos in the new player, I get this error message:

Initializing renderer...
Warning: using WorldTwoTextureBlend on a non-displacement surface.
Support for this will go away soon.

Warning: using WorldTwoTextureBlend on a non-displacement surface (material: nature/red_grass). Support for this will go away soon.
Host_EndGame: DataTable_ParseClassInfosFromBuffer: invalid class index (16384).

If I try to it again, it just says:

Host_EndGame: DataTable_ParseClassInfosFromBuffer: invalid class index (16384)

Long story short, does anyone know of any way I may be able to record demos on the HL2DM and perhaps use them in the Steam demo player feature?

Please do your best to help me, I've gone to great lengths just to try and do what I enjoy.
