steam detected problem

so i plyed last nite for hours, since disabling hyperthreading my game is much more reliable.
today i go to play and i get this message
"steam has detected a problem with your game file and is redownloading them".

fine... but it has said that all day, and is still at 0%.

i cant play at all now!!!! and its not due to any bugs this time!

what a brutal experience this has been so far... anyone know how to get this workgin again?

Valve have 5 file-checking things for HL2 at the bottom of the page here.

I think they should be able to tell you if your files are okay, and that means that it's Steam that's messing up.

Try exiting Steam, deleting or removing a file called ClientRegistry.blob and restarting Steam.

That's what a lot of people do when Steam loading goes weird.

by any chance, have the port numbers for NAT changed recently for steam?

it works now... i guess the download queue was just VERY large for the new updates... it didnt finish til 6am today.

seems to work much better now as well... I may re-enable hyperthreading and see if the game still plays.
