Steam doesnt appear....

i click on steam to start and it says...

Steam is already running. You may only run one copy of Steam at a time

.

so.. i go into processes and close the game there..

i then click steam a second time and nothing appears.. what the hell is going on here?!?!?!

if you start a game via steam, by clicking the "half life 2" shortcut on your desktop, does it work? if so it sounds like XP has "misplaced" your tray icon. very annoying but it can be repaired with a tool called "TaskbarRepairToolPlus!"
