steam error, i give up

Ok guys, I give up... Steam is about to make me really sick. I know there is plenty of threads having this subject, but i didn't find any answer to my problem in the 4 forums i visited. Half-Life 2 is working really fine on my pc. Everything was fine until yesterday: my game wasn't ready to play, it needed an update! the download began normally when suddenly, it stopped after a few seconds, saying "this game is currently unavailable..." I rebooted my PC and steam but this error still occure everytime I try to start the game. HL2 is at 96% acquired and is stuck there... I reinstalled steam, tried to reboot it each time i try to play the game, deleted my clientregistry.blob file, reinstalled the game, looked at the steam network status (it is far not overloaded), tried over a hundred times to shut steam down, reboot it and try to play the game...Nothing worked!! this damn stupid steam error is still occuring!! The funniest thing with that problem is that i even don't need the patch because i just want to play the single player game and it worked fine without the patch!!! I NEED HELP PLZ

Found an errorlog in steam folder saying :
Error:Steam error: SteamProcessCall(WaitForAppReadyToLaunch)(0xab0005,0x15cfc04,0x15cfd0c) failed with error 1: Resource failed verification check


Function trace:
CFileSystem_Steam::Mount()

what does that mean?

Did you exit Steam, then delete ClientRegistry.blob, then restart Steam?

I think it's important that you exit it first, delete then restart. I think deletion is the usual solution to a problem like this.

yes i did, about 20 times. Nothing worked, can't complete the patch download, so i can't play hl2.

Hello there!!
I still have the same damn problem for about a week now! The patch download for HL2 dont start, saying the game is unavailable. I NEED to play HL2, i paid for it and i want to have fun. I noticed that the patch download always stuck at 96%. Today, when i started steam, the game was at 93%. It downloaded up to 96% and then the error reappeared. Can i have some help plz!!! I sent mails to valve and steam but i had no answer... thx if u can help!

Anybody out there? I still need ur help guys! I cant play HL2 because steam dont want to download the patch!! I tried everything said in this forum but nothing worked! Help plz! I'd e-mail Valve direct. I think it's only fair that they be bombarded with complaints from disgruntled users who are struggling to get on with Valve's draconian anti-pirate measures & appalingly coded HL2.

This could be a clue.

There is a way to "verify" the files here. It's at the bottom of the page, with five options for HL2 to use.

I guess it's worth a try.

this is gonna sound really odd, and i cant explain it, but i was having the same problem (getting the game unavail error) the game installed/downloaded not problem but the game wouldnt start, however if you persevere by continually double clicking HL2 using a mix of right click and select "launch game" it eventually works, this takes anywhere between 5 and 25 mins, basically you habve to keep the cd spinning the drive, well thats my conclusion, all this is in offline mode btw, nothing will work whilst using steam online, what a piece of crap!!!

Thanks guys for ur suggestions, but it seems that u dont have the answer for me... The "game unavailable" error still occur.... Had a mail from VUGAMES, but it was a copy/paste from the steam support page... I sent an other message with some more infos about my problem, such as these error logs i found in my steam folder. If anyone has other suggestions, post them here please!
