Steam Error Message won't go away ..

About a week ago, I started getting this message every time I tried to run HL2 -

Steam.exe (main exception): #Win32 StructuredException at 025c825f : attempt to read from virtual address 898324483 without appropriate access rights

This happened just after the latest STeam update. I only get it if I try to play the game offline. I'm on dialup, and don't like having to log on to Steam every time I want to play. Anyone else get this message? Very annoying.

I don't know what's wrong, but the zero replies just looks too depressing so I had to post something. I think someone at the www.steampowered.com forums could help.

Thanks Seppo. I always thought that THIS was the main Steam forum. There's a thread at the top of Steampowered.com on this very issue with about 40 replies. Happy I'm not the only one having this prob. It is definately a Steam problem and not my PC setup. Have to wait for the next Steam update....
