Steam.exe (main exception) : ERROR : delete of Steam.exe failed, win 32 Error 32 "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

buh? its trying to kill itself but cant because its in use trying to kill itself? Was working fine, then 1/3 through the update reported this error and kept going.

Doing a reinstall but what could have caused this?, i cant find anything similar online.

okayyyyyy now i've done repair, uninstall/reinstall, Delete/reinstall

double checked for evil looking programs and this pc is clean. hrm

It cant be a configuration thing due to it working beforehand, but it cant be a data corruption problem due to reinstalls. i'm getting stumped

Edit: read through that thread, its at 26% like he described, But the changover from steam to steamtmp is just too damn fast to catch, it happens the same refresh (every second)

so did you fix it or not? does steam still work? cause if it does you could've ignored it.

here's the easy fix

Restart your computer in safe mode with networking. Run steam while in safe mode. It will run and update as it should...then restart your computer.

Steam should run normally.

I am running WinXP pro sp2.

got it to work by copying a good install from another pc on my network over it

easy

well here is the solution you asking for
i bet you all have (except this problem :>) the spybot S&D well try to close the TeaTimer and you will find out that alla running normally :>

dont format
