Steam.exe (main exception): failed to load library steam.dll help!!!!!!!!

Hi. I just bought half life 2 gome of the year edition and after waiting an hour to install I clicked on play HL2 and then an error pops up saying Steam.exe (main exception): failed to load library steam.dll and now I cannot play one of the greatest games in the world. Please any help would be very welcome as I am at the end of my rope.
Ps: I have tried reinstalling it.

The only suggestion I have is to go to the steam folder and delete clientregistry.blob .
