Steam Fails to Update

Hi,

My steam account has failed to update. I've tried this again and agin but steam keeps crashing at 30-40%, some 58% of halflife 2 has completed downloading and I cant seem to get the thing to complete. Took a look at the following page :- http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=234

Noanswer there , I've turned off My firewall in Windows Xp SP2. I've tried downloading and reinstalling steam doesnt seem to help. Got any solutions?

For some reason my firewall blocked my steam becasue of this update, I allowed the program to run on the firewall and worked pretty alright (as steam does...)

check your block settings for your firebox and try 'n find the steam program and allow it to come throught you're intArtube.

What. The. Hell.

He already said he has TURNED OFF his firewall. No amount of adjusting settings is going to compete with THAT. Turning your firewall off, (while not too safe an option for security), ELIMINATES the firewall as a potential problem. Fiddling the setting won't do jack once it's OFF.

And what the hell is a "fireBOX"?
