This would help many people out since I actually know a few people that run Steam over Wine on Linux (along with many other games). Discuss.

No, they have linux binaries for servers.

This is quite old info don't get your hopes up seeing as Source is a DX app.

True. I was thinking more of Steam being native and then it runs the games in Cedega or something (like how WoW and Eve Online works). That probably would be the best way for now, and then future releases of games might have Linux binaries.

yes, because knowing about their internal developments automatically means you're allowed to talk about it!

;)

they're probably seeking for linux administrators.

and it's not really necessary since steam and many valve games games run by using wine.

I hope they do something like that. I want to use linux, but game support just isnt out there. I think if steam goes to linux it could help out a lot seeing as steam is such a huge game app now. Would also be nice for those already running steam via wine, I've done it before and there always seems to be (more) problems. Last time i did it I couldn't get anything over teh store or update news. Other times steam just wouldn't update. I hear source games actually work pretty well under linux, so i think if valve worked with the guys working on wine, they could probably get it pretty well optimized.

yes, but sadly my copy does not :( . Unreal anthology does not come with a linux installer :(
