Steam hack or update?

OK by now we all know there is a steam update (we all want this one)

But as steam has no support this is about the only place i can ask.

Is this a hack occuring to me? I've downloaded 12MB and steam still said "Conecting Steam Account:"

In the picture you can see the ports (should there be this many ports)

And if i'm just worring too much how big is the patch anyway (least 100MB i would guess)

If i reconnect at this point will it have to start again or resume? (XP 56K). Should it not say downloading or something - who should i message?

Steam - these patches should be optional, some of us still have 56K

It says "connecting" for a while for me too on 512k broadband, a good 5 minutes minimum but I could see from a non-Steam net monitor gadget the connection was maxed out.

Then it comes out and up pops a thing asking if you want to install the deathmatch and other stuff released today.

I think it's just a big update.

I don't know the size of the patch when you connect either. Seemed about 10 to 20 megs for me.

Deathmatch was maybe 20 megs as well.
