Steam has died on me

Weird. I connect today and get the hardware survey. Fill it out no problems. Now I can't connect to any server. It takes me back to the desktop. Anyone?

another thing, is the CS:S beta getting shut down..? the main server isnt being contacted..

I know that there is an error for people with custom sprites, sounds, models etc. (including me). You'll just have to remove all the custom content for now. A fix will be released as soon as Valve has solved the problem.

Right well I've had Steam working with custom content for about a week. But I will try it, cheers

Glad to help.

You should be able to put back your custom content now. There has been a new steam update. Restart your steamclient to get the "Custom content fix"

The Steam server browser seems to have an issue with contacting the CSS master server, you can use 'All Seeing Eye', or connect via the ip directly.

Judging by the status page theres alot of linkage problems flying about today :O
