Steam/HL/CSS Help Please

How do i get into ONLINE MODE?

I get this Error

Unable to connect to the steam network. 'Offline Mode' is unavailable because there is no steam login information stored on this computer.

I have just installed Half-life 2 on my new computer and when i click steam i get this Error message :-

You will not be able to use steam until you can connect to the steam network again.
To cheack the status ofd the steam network please visit http://steampowered.com/status

So i trieDjust clicking on the COUNTER-STRIKE Source icon and i get the login screen, to either open a new account or be already registered, when i click already registered i get the same error message.

Any help would be greatfully received

Make sure your router has all the right ports forwarded, and that you are, infact, connected to the internet.

Lol i aint that much of a n00b. i am on the net, but how do i make sure "my router has all the right ports forwarded"
