I was wondering, when HL2 comes out and I have to install steam, will it automatically download all games and mods and stuff or is it customizable from the start? Only I dont particularly want a bunch of games that I'm never going to play clogging up my harddrive. Thanks.

From what I remember when I was using it, you can pick what you want to download. Or download versions of steam with those cache files already there. As for games already installed. I'm not too sure the procedure on that, but I think there's some way it can, or you can, just move the files over to the right places and they'll run.. or something along those lines

Its customizable from the start.
If I were you though, I'd get Steam sometime soon so that on Day One(whenever it is) you're not at the bottom of the pile trying to get the files from the content servers.

the content servers are gonna get busy once HL2 is released and i can only imagine how it will be trying to update Steam and download the games u want.. so do it soon.. hell do it NOW while u have the time
