Steam keeps killing my internet

Used to have this problem before. Haven't had it recently, since playing Garry's Mod...

but I loaded up Counter Strike Source for the first time in a long while, and it worked once... but I quit out, then came back in... server list wasn't populating, and then my entire internet connection was just Fubar. Nothing would load.

I've had this exact same issue in the past, and I wish I knew what caused it, because it's supremely frustrating.

I've tested it before in the past, and I'm pretty sure it's just on my computer. My ability to access the internet recovers, but it takes like 5 minutes.

I have/had similar problems. Chances are you're on a Netgear router? Netgears are shit for source games because of how many requests it makes per second closes the ports like a DOS attack.

But thanks man! That seems to be the source of the problem. I mean, I haven't tested it yet, but it makes total sense.

Yep I had the same issue, and I could increase the allowed connections on my POS router that my ISP supplied and that fixed the issue, but now I have a new better one.
