A recent update to the Steam Client Beta has added playlists and track numbers to Steam Music alongside various other smaller changes for the rest of the Steam interface.

Custom playlists can now be created from tracks or entire albums by right clicking on song or an album while viewing the "Music" tab of the Steam Library and choosing the "Add to Playlist" option. This should then bring up another window, allowing you to create a custom name for the playlist. Any created playlists can then be accessed, modified, or deleted by changing to the "Playlists" filter within the Library, similarly to how Albums and Artists could previously be viewed.

Newly added track numbers, improved artist filtering, and total queue duration listings should also help improve the organisation of music libraries and playlists. Several other minor changes include colour tweaks based on recent user feedback and a slight visual update to the screenshot user interface in order to bring it inline with the new blue colour scheme introduced to the Steam client earlier this month.

The new changes are currently restricted to the Steam Client Beta while the rest of the kinks are worked out, but expect to see these features hit the main Steam client sometime soon. For now, more details about this week's Steam Client Beta update can be found over on the community group.
