Im gonna get a new laptop at some point and its gonna have vista on it. Anyone know how steam n half life series runs on vista? post here.

its runs. performance will depend on the video card that comes with it.

The only issue I have is any game running the source engine crashes upon closing.

Running Steam and all Valve games on Vista Home Premium, no issues whatsoever. No crashes or conflicts at all, in fact feels smoother than XP Professional did. Real mixed bag of feedback out there...

Windows Vista Home Premium - no issues here. Runs just as good as it did in XP.

Vista Ultimate - runs fine, but as others said, I get crashes every time I exit a game. It hasn't always done it though.

Vista Ultimate - Runs better than it did on XP,solved the looping sound crash for me. Not had any crashes so far

Running on Home Premium, no problems.

Vista Ultimate 64bit, crashes on quitting a game sometimes. For a while it also crashed occasionally when the server changed level in TF2 but I think that's stopped.

Crashes for me too when exiting a game, not always but it does happen frequently. Not a big deal for me though.

I assume the crashing has got to do with 64bit? Wasn't they going to do a 64bit of source?

No, mine's 32 bit.. though there might be a separate 64-bit related issue.

Vista Home Premium 32-bit has should not give you heart ache, the only problem I've had was the fact that Half-Life 2 continuously alerted me that my drivers were out of date, even though I may have updated an hour ago.

I've got business 64-bit, works perfectly fine. Rarely crashes when quitting a game.

It occassionally crashes when quitting a game, but the thing is, you are quitting the game, so it doesn't really matter at that point. :-P

Other than that, no issues whatsoever. Performance is just great.

Oh and I haven't bothered searching for a fix to it crashing like that, there may be one. Like iced says it doesn't really matter.

It was random when it started but it happens regularly now. The only problem is my mic is always on boost in TF2 when I start which results in in static when I regularly forget about it.
