Steam problem

I have had steam since it was in beta form and really like it, but lately it has been having a little problem. Acctually it's a big problem, I can't play games through it. Whenever I try to enter a game through the games menu or merely play online through servers, the game appears to start up but then my screen goes black and I am returned to my desktop. This problem has been persisting for quite some time and I have reinstalled steam four or five times already with no success. Some one please help me!

Well, my only other idea would be to nuke it (format the HD. Fixes EVERYTHING! )
Or try e-mailing valve about it.

Go to www.steampowered.com and go to their forums. Search for your problem. Usually they have solutions that work.

have u tried deleting the clientblob file?
it generally seems to solve alot of weird problems when u do this.
might wanna try that before formatting.

Dr. Freeman hit it on the nose....usually the clientblob does things like that, never heard of your problem but like freeman said it's something to try before a reformat
