you're doing that on purpose ain't ya ?! :|

Yeah steam is ****ed and you know it, LOVE IT, you are only wasting your time on CS anwway.

It looks like valve servers are getting hit by a major DDOS attack at the moment :|

Some idiots.

Looks like they are starting to get hit again :|

maybe they should take the hints that:
1. Steam sucks. It's up and down more than pants at a whore house.
2. People want WON to stay, and are dedicated enough to make a DoS attack to get their point across. (I'm guessing thats what this dos is about)

oh come on, steam has been nothing but problems since it came along. now they are getting dosd because they are putting won down. put 2 and 2 together!

Erm no.

How has it been a problem? A minority of users that can't work PC's have spyware on their comp is not a steam problem.

Just some little jack craps that have keygened keys may actually *gasp* have to buy a game.

Oh and btw the longest steam has ever been down for is 8 hours and that was for maintenence the longest it's been down for an attack is 6 hours.

So theese little shits are ruining what the majority of the players want 1 million + VS WON's 100k(probably much less)

BTW looks like steam just came back to full health.(untill the little shitzoids decide to DDOS again)

blah blah blah, you're a clown!
keygened keys didnt work in WON either, so get your facts straight. WON wasnt obtrusive, it was just a part of the game, and only showed up as a few lines of text. Now that is what i like to see.
Want to find servers? Use server query or all seeing eye. easy.
want to talk to cs nerds? no way.
want to download a patch? get it from one of the thooooooouusands of mirrors available.
want to make 2.5 times the profit on your games and pass a negligable amount of that onto consumers? now it all makes sense.

edit: Also, Waldo from steam forums made this stunning defence against someone asking why they decided to use steam...
"I think that anyone could have launched a Denial of Service attack against the WON system at any time in the last few years and caused the same kinds of problems."

I think the point, however, is that people didnt feel the need to attack WON, because it was good.

Oh well boohooo to you 2.

Looks like i'll be using steam, and you will be using what?

Steam, unfortunately. That's why i even bothered to complain. i hope someone makes an alternative steam, called fission or something. steam power is old news.

Well there you go.

You adapted well done, i personally didn't like steam either when i first got it but the little blighter has grown on me.

Sexay GUI
Faster game
Freinds
Lower Ping
Moochos faster server browser

Just give it time and it will all be good.

just to warn ya if you use nvidia, be careful about using the 61.72 drivers none of the HL or CZ games would run.

Hey guys, i told badger and chris about this the other day. Gabe basicaly told hl2world that they "valve" where better than the hackers of the world. Gabe sas that = Condition zero being the biggest downloaded thing EVER on steam.

Its not like the people are buying it ither. Im guessing the player authentication stuff is becuase if you havent noticed CS:CZ players.... their are about 5k more of you today than their was yesterday.

I own CS:CZ btw... i want in the beta :)

From the steam support site

PLEASE NOTE:
If the Steam Network is down or too busy you may not be able to connect to a Game Server at this time!

You can always look at the Steam Status Page and see if there is something is going on. If the last update for that page is more then 20 or 30 minutes behind, that is a good indicator of a problem.

Please also check to see if there are other players having the same problem on the Steampowered Forums.

If the Network is down, you will just need to be patient and wait until the problem gets cleared.

If everything else seems to be ok and no one else is reporting this problem then you should go to the Settings menu in Steam and choose Login as a different user, then log back into the account you were having problems with.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Normally, if this is a problem on your client it will prompt you to renew your Ticket.
If this seems to happen with one Server but not others, then that Server might be having network problems. Especially after an outage of the Steam network, it may take a while for Servers to clear their status and let you connect.

You do not need to re-install Steam if you have this problem.

If that does not work, try deleting ClientRegistry.blob in your steam folder, restart steam and it will update. Note that you might need to do this more than once.
