Steam problem.

Ok last night my dad was playing DoD and the game randomly began to minimize itself and bring him back to windows. We tried all the other games and they all do the samething-about every 30 seconds it closes to windows. No error messages come up or anything so I dont have a clue of whats going on so my question is: has anyone had this problem and if so what should I do?
Will it mess with my games or account if I am to reinstall? Any help is appreciated.
