Steam Problems- Help please

Since installing steam I can not seem to get the Hi-Definition pack to work, it installs bu the game is not updated. Am I doing something wrong? Please help as the old models are rubbish. thanks in advance.

From what I heard I don't think the High-Def models work in steam, although im not positive. I'd just hold out on the old models untill HL2.
