Steam questions?

Hi, I installed Steam when it originally came out and signed up (e-mail and password). But at the beginning it was crappy so I uninstalled it.

Now I want to install it again and I wonder. Do I have to provide the same sign in info (email and password) again if I use the same CD key, because I forgot under which e-mail I signed in originally. Will I get banned if I try to sing in with a different username but with the same CD key?

Use the same email. You won't be able to use that key, ask the steam guys for help finding your old account.
