Steam Registration

I can not get steam to register Half-Life 2.

after I put my cd key in it says
Please install Half-Life 2 Retail Collectors before Continuing
Installation of Half-Life 2 Retail Collectors is required before continuing.
Please insert your Half-Life 2 Retail Collectors CD/DVD into the drive and select 'install' for the autorun menu

but the game is allready installed :-/

Maybe I should re-install everything again... and see if that works
