Steam Release - will it work?

Will the steam release of HL2 work out, and is it a good idea?

  • It'll be tight, and valve has some serious bugs to work out, but I think it'll manage.

  • It's a bad idea. It's not up to the load, it'll be lucky if anyone can get HL2 from it.

  • Steam is rubbish. It's just not up to it and it's going to go crashing down in flames.

Just thought i'd find out what was the general mood as to whether the steam release would work out or not.

chose number 4, its a good idea, but it's not ready for a game this anticipated.

#1 or #2, can't really decide.

Hmmm.... going for #1... now Steam better deliver :D

I dunno what kinda connection you are on, but I want it

OK, maybe minutes was a bit of an exaggeration. I'm buying HL2 retail anyway. What I really meant was minutes after it's properly released (if pre-loading works the way it should).

I figure it'll be a tight run thing, but hopefully...

*fingers crossed* Come on valve, we're rooting for you!

Um it will work fine as long as they have the bandwith...Hl1 singleplayer worked great downloading it off of steam and playing, no differences at all.

I think that just like with the Steam release, Valve will have much more demand than they expected. After 5 years they still didn't realize they own. Too bad.
