Steam settings file?

i was wondering if anyone knows to which file Steam saves its settings and stuff.
i was told once before a while back but i've since forgotten so i was wondering if anyone here knows this off hand.

otherwise i will have to go digging for the answer.

delete clientregistry.blob in your steam folder. also next time its alot easier if you look to getting answers from the maker of the software steampowered.com

actually theres nothing wrong with my Steam.
well...there is...it is not saving my settings and so i thought if i opened that file that saves the settings and change the settings value, it might just save the settings i choose.

and yeah the thought of searching over at Steampowered did cross my mind except that place is so messed up with junk and their search function doesn't exactly work properly either in my experience...i thought posting here would be better.

so um...anyone?
any help?

I assume you are talking about the CS:S config files settings in, it might be set to read only?
