Steam Status and the "infamous update pattern"

Every once an a while, i check the steam status graph. You know, just too see if there is anything "attention grabbing". And no, i don't sit there staring all day waiting for an update :p . But i was just there now, and there is a pattern that looks like the infamous "update squiggle" on the graph. Check it out:

Any thoughts?? I'd guess it'd probably have to do with CS:S, if an update actually is going to be released
 
Whoa, yeah, that usually means something'll happen here soon. :) Hopefully it's a CS:S update... and if I want to get really hopeful... an update that has more player skins... :O
 
Wow, thats a pretty big squiggle. Hopefully it's a CSS update. Or they could have decided to just spring HL2 on us without warning to surprise us. Okkkkk.... I think thats a little TOO hopeful.

Didn't valve say something about a CS:S update or something not long ago?

Maybe they didn't...i just thought that i remembered reading something somewhere. It was probably just a rumor though.
 
I hope this update fixes the warez guys.

The other stuff can wait.

WAs just gonna post a thread on this cos i saw it like 30mins ago, beat me too it. I hope its an update...i want more CS:s and less hitbox probelms, and less lag...god i hate the dodgy netcode..but wht a game
 
god damn warez fools. I wish i could get a big wet fish, and slap them all at the same bloody time!! GRR!

Well, as for me, i want Half Life 2 :p

....but a CS:S update would be nice for the time-being.
 
I might actually pre-order if they add more levels and fix some of the bugs. I haven't played a counter strike game EVER, so you could all find a game I'm in and blow me to smithereens.

I never got into CS, but CS:S is great. Not that it's bug-free (it's far from it). But it sure is a heak of a lot of fun, and looks great.
 
maybe he was lying in the Post?? after maybe he got flamed by doug...lol for saying it. Ah well, we can jsut wait an see i think. It would be nice tho. Thing is, i got to go to work in 7hours.. god damn why do i agree to work extra hours?!
 
Yeah, but thats guinny, does anyone know the usualy time for VALVe announcemants?

cant the british just do things normally? left side of the road driving, wrong date format using, color mispelling, limey freaks.
 
Steam is just so Valve can have their own personal p2p program with your files.

M-D-Y is a really silly way to setup a date, its like 2, 1, 3.
 
Pff, all you are origonal at is the core language, and its all changed since we broke off anyway. Just do things our way or we're going to have to go all iraqi on your asses.
 
Well if there is going to be an update, which I think there is going to be, it will be Wednesday at 6 PM PST. How do I know this you ask? Well some of you probably have already seen this over at HL2Fallout forums but a member posted this, I forget who it was sorry.

That would be great, but I heard it's just "Big-Head mode" :(.

edit: Hey, CS:S is updating.
 
Unless I'm missing something... that "update pattern" is the same pattern that occurs every day around 6 PM.

edit: Wow, it is updating...
 
My DOD:S just did something with acquiring some data...could have been that. (NOTE: I have had steam installed and preloaded and all that...so this isn't after a reinstall or anything)

EDIT: Restarted steam right now and still going at it a little
 
Am I the only one that instantly noticed that it was the WRONG GRAPH that he's looking at? It's the bandwidth graph that goes down when they update, sheesh.

Settle down people.

And if you are looking at the bottom one, that's just a little squiggle, no where near the size it usually is. If it is an update, it could be as minor as re-wording the hl2 preload message, which was misleading to some people.
