Anyone know whats up with the big bandwidth increase on steam? I just got logged out of the friends network and couldnt reconnect so I checked the status page:
http://www.steampowered.com/status/status.html

Looks like a big increase in bandwidth usage. Is there a CS:S update going on or something?

This is nothing, a few days ago it was 10 Gbit

Eh? I don't see a big increase. I see the daily bandwidth bump that happens during peak hours.

And shouldn't this be in the Steam forum?

I'm not seeing anything big either...

Umm yeah it should. Sorry :)

Are the content servers always around this current amount of used bandwidth?

Total Available Bandwidth: 4,400.00Mbps
Total Used Bandwidth: 2,961.67Mbps

Steam's max bandwidth downgraded to ~5,500 Mbps recently whereas before it was around 8,000 Mbps. As it hasn't seen speeds that high in 48 hours, the graph has been rescaled and while the lines "look higher", they are still normal.

Gotcha.. thx. I was getting a little excited about a possible HL2 preload there for a second :)

Well, there looks to be several anomalies over the past couple of days, sudden spikes (like on Sunday at approximately 2 AM), looks more like the NY Stock Exchange now then its usual sine wave.

The jump is at least part of the current DDOS attack (which is presumably the cause of the bandwidth drop) being lifted, allowing everyone trying to play to suddenely do so.

The graph rescaled a long time ago.
