Steam Update this Wednesday

There will be an update to Steam this Wednesday beginning at approxamately 6:00am PST. Steam will be unavailable for the duration of the update, which is expected to last three hours.

This update will include the changes previously mentioned:


Offline Play
Account validation (via e-mail)
A new Half-Life 2 hardware survey
Support for purchasing games through Steam

The Steampowered.com website will be avilable during the downtime window, and will be updated as status changes.

Guess what? Wednesday is my Birthday! Looks like Im getting a nice new Steam Present! I wonder what offline play means? Bots?

offline play refers to not having to be connected to the internet to play steam games, i think the buying games thing is to get ready to sell cs cz over steam

Six Three, currently to play any game through Steam, including Half-Life and Opposing Force singleplayer you need a connection to the internet. Even if you want to play a LAN match you need a connection to the internet on all machines. This caused a bit of an uproar so Valve have decided that you can now use Steam to a certain extent without connecting to the internet first.
